Text of Speech Announcing Submission Recall Petition Signaturesas delivered by Melanie Sue at Mahwah's June 28, 2018 Town Council MeetingOn January 8th we notified the town clerk of our intention to circulate a Recall Petition so residents would have the option to vote to remove Mayor Laforet from office in this November's election. On January 19th the town clerk approved our Recall Petition and we began collecting signatures. We were given 160 days to gather the signatures of 25% of Mahwah's registered voters -- a total of 4,170 signatures. |
Residents Start Second Recall of Mahwah MayorMahwah voters file petition to remove Mayor William Laforet from officeMAHWAH, New Jersey, January 18, 2018 – The Committee to Recall Mayor William Laforet, a group of Mahwah voters who want the Mahwah mayor removed from office, has completed the first steps in petitioning for the mayor's removal. Vincent Maiello, Chair of the Recall Committee said, "Our committee represents a large group of Mahwah residents that believe Mayor William Laforet should not be allowed to remain in office. We are confident that this recall effort will succeed." |
